CoD BO7 Season 5 Zombies' Final Chapter: Dr. Monty's Cabin Returns with Widow's Wine
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 5 has finally been officially announced, launching on July 23rd at 9 AM Pacific Time. The official update announcement on the 16th already revealed a lot of details.
S5 will bring players new events, weekly challenges, a brand-new Battle Pass, and a series of new weapons. Multiplayer mode will also introduce a range of exciting content, including the new map Jubilee, set in a rural town in Japan. In Endgame mode, players can race against time in the new Burn Run and enhance their Operator's abilities with Ability Boosts.
Next, let's get to today's main focus - Zombies. Season 5 will mark the final chapter of the entire BO7 zombie storyline. This season's zombie content is divided into two phases: initial content (launching on July 23rd) and reloaded update content (expected to launch around the end of August).
Initial Content
New Survival Map
In BO7 S5, we'll encounter a brand new survival map - Eidskallen Lighthouse, located in a snow-covered lighthouse area within Totenreich Round-Based map. Players will be dropped into a small area around Beacon Island and its lighthouse, striving to reach as many rounds as possible with limited resources. This design tests both movement skills and precise resource allocation.
While the map is compact, it includes all the core features, such as Pack-a-Punch, Arsenal, Der Wunderfizz, Mystery Box, Armor Upgrades, and Wall Buys. Flammmenfalle Trap is also available.
Eidskallen Lighthouse also features turn milestone rewards to encourage players to aim for higher rounds, as detailed below:
- Complete Round 10: Valhallan Animated Emblem
- Complete Round 25: Eidskallen's Light Weapon Charm
- Complete Round 50: Gift Card GobbleGum
Want to easily reach Turn 50 and get Gift Card GobbleGum? Try familiarizing yourself with the tight map's routes and resource points beforehand using CoD Black Ops 7 Bot Lobbies. Practice repeatedly in a stress-free environment, and you'll naturally achieve twice the results with half the effort during the actual challenge.
Directed Mode: Kowakujō
Kowakujō will launch with Directed Mode on July 23rd. This mode provides players with additional guidance for Main Quest, displaying up to 15 quest steps on screen. It's perfect for beginners or players who want a more relaxed experience of the story.
Players who complete Kowakujō mission in Directed Mode will receive Carver Yōjinbō operator skin, a “Kowakujō Directed Mode Completion" Calling Card, and 5000 XP.
Starting Room: Kowakujō
Simultaneously, Kowakujō will also introduce a Starting Room mode. Players will be directly airdropped into Outer Ward area to defend the burning castle until the very last moment. All roads outside this area will be blocked, so you'll need to make full use of available resources, such as Mystery Boxes and GobbleGum Machines, to survive the intense heat. This mode will severely test your resource management and survival skills.
Similarly, to encourage players to survive longer, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 also features round milestone rewards:
- Complete Round 10: Hellping Hound GobbleGum and 1,000 XP
- Complete Round 25: Armor Gettin GobbleGum and 2,500 XP
- Complete Round 50: Hidden Power GobbleGum and 5,000 XP
Rogue Run: Astra Malorum
Rogue Run mode will add three new Astra Malorum-themed playlists. Players will fight for survival in randomized Black Ops 7 locations such as Crash Site and Museum Infinitum.
These playlists offer progressively increasing difficulty levels - Casual, Normal, and Hardcore. Completing different difficulty levels will reward players with corresponding Calling Cards, GobbleGum, and XP.
Reloaded Update Content
Final Turn-Based Map: Rex Infernus
The highlight of the reloaded update is Rex Infernus - the final turn-based DLC map for BO7 Zombies mode. Players will face the corrupting power of The Warden, bringing the entire BO7 Zombies storyline to a close.
Judging from the first trailer, the biggest highlight of Rex Infernus is the return of Dr. Monty's cabin. This cabin holds countless memories for veteran BO3 players. In the trailer, the cabin itself is in a broken state, with cracked windows - perhaps hinting that players will finally be able to explore its interior. As the final piece of the entire Zombies mode, every detail of this map carries deep emotional significance for series fans.
Widow's Wine, New GobbleGum, and Legacy Weapons Return
The reloaded update also brings back the classic Perk-a-Cola - Widow's Wine. Widow's Wine made its debut in BO3, helping you freeze zombies and improve your survival rate.
In addition, a brand new GobbleGum - Fully Packed GobbleGum - will be released. While its specific effects haven't been announced yet, judging from the name, it's likely related to weapon enhancement packs, potentially allowing players to directly obtain enhanced weapons or skip the upgrade process.
The mid-season update will also bring two Legacy Weapons - Olympia Shotgun and TR2 Marksman Rifle - both powerful weapons that once dominated the meta.
In short, Black Ops 7 Season 5 has prepared a substantial content gift for Zombies players. From the return of Dr. Monty's Hut to the grand finale of Widow's Wine, and the final chapter of the entire BO7 zombie storyline, Season 5's Zombies undoubtedly carries immense anticipation and nostalgia from players.
