Discover What’s New in Diablo 4 Season 13: Skill Tree Remaster, Talisman Charms & Endgame Fishing Revealed
Season 13 will launch concurrently with Lord of Hatred expansion, restoring subsequent season cycle of Diablo 4 to 3-4 months.
While little information about season-specific content has been released yet, new season mechanics, new season events, and some form of season gear enhancement are expected.
Lord of Hatred introduces Warlocks, Paladins, War Plans, Echoing Hatred, Horadric Cubes, Charms, Loot Filters, a complete overhaul of all class skill trees, and a fishing system.
Season 13 Start Date and Time
Season 13 will begin on Tuesday, April 28th at 10:00 AM. This coincides with the official launch of Diablo 4's second DLC, Lord of Hatred. There are currently no plans for a Season 13 PTR test server.
Lord of Hatred DLC
Diablo 4's second DLC significantly improves late-game content and events, gear and skill customization, and more. With the release of Lord of Hatred, Diablo 4 boasts eight classes, hundreds of playstyles, and a brand-new, significantly expanded late-game loop.
Warlock & Paladin
Lord of Hatred introduces two brand-new classes to Diablo 4. Paladin returns in the long-awaited Sanctuary, while Warlock becomes the newest addition to Diablo 4 roster. You can get Paladin by pre-ordering Lord of Hatred DLC now, while Warlock will launch simultaneously with DLC on April 28th.
Paladins uphold justice, protecting all people and fighting against evil forces. These warriors wield gleaming golden swords and shields, possess dazzling angelic wings, and can harness primal blessings. Their skills are primarily passive, influencing enemies with auras and summoning spells reminiscent of Dark Ages of Diablo 2.
Warlocks are a completely new class in Diablo, wielding demons and dark magic from Hell with unwavering willpower, turning Hell into their weapon. This breathes fresh life into the traditional Summoner archetype. Warlocks offer a wealth of playstyles, allowing players to engage in melee combat or ranged attacks by summoning infernal fire, hordes of demons, and even transform into a demon themselves.
Horadric Cube and Talisman
What's truly exciting is Horadric Cube, which allows you to modify existing items or craft entirely new ones. Horadric Cube returns in Diablo 4's Lord of Hatred expansion. Previously, Horadric Cube allowed players to modify and craft items. Customizing gear by combining rare materials greatly enriches Diablo 4's gear customization system.
You've been significantly nerfed at the start of the new season, but now you can permanently acquire these abilities in a unique form: Talisman system. Once players obtain a Talisman, it drops Charms from enemies and various events. Similar to the original design in Diablo 3, this provides a separate way to level up your class and gain additional stat bonuses.
These Charms can be socketed into Talismans to unlock powerful set bonuses, including multiplicative damage and defense buffs. Talismans have their own inventory slots and won't take up space in your inventory.
A major criticism of Diablo 3 was the requirement for players to use set items. Now, while you still essentially have a set system, your sets are independent, and set items no longer restrict your character choices. As you collect, you can experience the full set effects.
War Plans
War Plans function similarly to Bounties in Diablo 3, but with richer content. You need to complete various endgame content on a fixed journey, including Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, the Pit, Lair Bosses, Undercity, Whispers, and Infernal Hordes, to earn Diablo 4 Gold.
Players can choose different endgame events to upgrade their War Plans skill tree and customize rewards, enemies, and even the events themselves. This encourages players to try different playstyles.
Echoing Hatred
Echoing Hatred is a wave-based challenge where players will face hordes of demonic enemies, designed to add unprecedented difficulty to Diablo 4's endgame content.
Each Echoing Hatred challenge will feature different enemies, terrain, and combat scenarios, with higher difficulty yielding richer rewards. Its description is fighting against endless hordes of zombies. We'll obviously be getting a new campaign, and you'll see many familiar faces from previous Diablo games.
Skill Tree Remastered
The skill trees for all eight classes will be updated, and it's free. Of course, you'll need to own the base game Diablo 4 first. All the skill trees from Diablo 3 have been extensively remastered in Lord of Hatred DLC. Previously, each skill tree node offered 4-5 skills and some passive skill options, while the new skill trees are much larger.
The new skill customization features include duration, speed, effects, and appearance options, with over 40 remastered skills and over 80 additional options for each class. Players who own Lord of Hatred will also gain over 20 additional shapeshifting skill options per class.
Loot Filter
Loot filters are a common feature in ARPGs, allowing players to customize the appearance of dropped items, making it easier to distinguish valuable loot from items best avoided. Diablo 4's loot filter seems to fulfill all these needs, allowing players to create items that meet specific criteria.
Fishing
After Season 13, you can fish for different kinds of fish. I don't know what these fish are for. I hope the game doesn't overemphasize fishing for specific loot. Maybe there will be some cosmetics, but it's just to provide another form of entertainment.
Perhaps you can fish when you're bored, or while waiting for other events in the game to happen. For example, while waiting for a world boss to appear. You could go to a lake and cast your fishing line. That might be cool.
Season 13 will be released alongside the new expansion pack. If you purchase the new expansion pack, you can experience the story and new classes first. There's still much more new content waiting for Blizzard to release.
