Are Diablo 4 Season 9 Spiritborn Players Still Chasing Nesekem The Herald? - An Overrated Mythic Weapon

A big part of the fun of playing Diablo 4 Season 9’s endgame is farming those coveted Mythic items. These items, unlike others, are incredibly rare, and their power often scales with their rarity.

This makes it worthwhile to invest time in farming Lair Boss or crafting them with Resplendent Sparks and Diablo 4 Runes. However, not all Mythics are created equal, and some often seem out of place.

The most frustrating thing is when players finally manage to farm Lair Boss and find a Mythic item that doesn’t fit their builds at all.

Even worse, Spiritborn players searching for the final Mythic item might stumble upon one of the game’s worst Mythic items.

At first glance, obtaining Nesekem, the Herald might seem like cause for celebration, but this Nesekem, the Herald Mythic Glaive is far from the best choice for Spiritborn, and most of the time, it’s a complete waste.

Why Should Spiritborn Players Avoid Nesekem The Herald?

This weapon’s utility is incredibly limited. While most Mythic weapons in Diablo 4 Season 9 are either universal or at least adaptable to multiple classes, Nesekem, the Herald is exclusive to Spiritborn.

This in itself significantly lowers its value, which is why it’s a good thing other classes won’t drop it while farming for their desired Mythic weapon. However, with the popularity of Spiritborn in Season 9, many players will likely be disappointed if they farm this weapon, preferring the more practical Shroud of False Death.

Judging solely by its stats, Nesekem, the Herald seems quite good as a Spiritborn weapon, with affixes that are compatible with almost any Spiritborn build:

• Inherent Affix: +400% Damage to Elites
• All Stats +200
• Maximum Life +1200
• Critical Strike Damage +250%
• Overpower Damage +450%
• Unique Affix: Marks a random nearby enemy every 2 seconds. Marked enemies are vulnerable, and hitting them will inflict a Critical Strike and Overpower. 10 hits clears the mark.

While the boosts to all stats and maximum health seem impressive, fixed values are ultimately less effective than percentage increases.

The high Overpower and Critical Damage were once a highlight, but the overall reduction in Overpower damage in Season 9 has eliminated this advantage. While the weapon itself isn’t terrible, and some players may find it suitable for their build, it’s definitely lacking compared to other Mythic items.

What Are Some More Cost-Effective Mythic Weapons?

More importantly, Spiritborns have better Unique weapon options, and they’re more than half as difficult to obtain as this Mythic weapon.

Those playing Quill Volley Spiritborn builds will find Rod of Kepeleke more enjoyable, allowing them to freely cast Core skills.

Those playing Evade Spiritborns might prefer Wushe Nak Pa Unique Glaive, which enhances their selected Spirit Hall Bonus. Even the top-tier Season 9 Spiritborn builds using Balazan’s Maxtlatl Unique Pants require a Legendary weapon with Aspect of Plains Power to maximize their power and maintain maximum Ferocity.

By the way, Nesekem, the Herald requires two Resplendent Sparks, plus six Yul Runes, six Wat Runes, and six Tal Runes.

Keep in mind that crafting Mythic gear is incredibly resource-intensive, so players are generally better off using Respledent Sparks and Diablo 4 Gold on other, more valuable items.

Since the best weapons for Spiritborn are Unique and Legendary, there’s really no need to craft Nesekem, the Herald. It’s better to save the materials for items like Shroud of False Death or Heir of Perdition, which are incredibly useful for almost every class.

In short, Spiritborn players pursuing Mythic gear in Diablo IV Season 9 should be cautious and avoid wasting resources on Nesekem, the Herald; there are better options out there.
