WoW Midnight Season 2 Nebulous Void Cores Guide: Where Should You Spend Your Bonus Rolls?
WoW Midnight Season 2 completely changes how gear is acquired. Nebulous Void Cores provide players with a brand new way to obtain extra reforging opportunities, instead of passively waiting for random drops from raids or dungeons.
Since Great Vaults are now directly pegged to these tokens, combined with Knockout System, acquiring high-value, top-tier gear is much easier than traditional farming methods.

If you plan to craft gear for your main character or multiple alts in WoW Midnight Season 2, understanding these mechanics is essential before further changes arrive.
Great Vault
Previously, the weekly gear selection from WoW Midnight Great Vaults was one of our most important sources of gear. But in Season 2, simply filling three Great Vault slots will earn you a Nebulous Void Core.
Raids, dungeons, and even some easier Open World Content or low-level delves can be used to complete these slots. Filling three slots earns you a bonus token.
More importantly, Nebulous Void Cores uses a corresponding Loot Table based on the specific boss you're performing a bonus roll on. This reduces the amount of WoW Midnight gold and time spent targeting a single piece of gear.
Note that if WoW Midnight Great Vault directly drops Best in Slot gear this week, such as the crucial Mythic Trinket or weapon, it's more cost-effective to take the gear and invest your tokens in Raid boss that drops the target Best in Slot.
Bonus Rolls
One of the most unique aspects of Nebulous Void Cores is its Knockout System, ensuring you don't repeatedly obtain the same piece of gear.
Let's say a WoW Midnight boss's loot table contains rings, belts, and tier pieces. If your first bonus roll yields a belt, subsequent uses of tokens against that boss will only allow you to choose from the remaining loot.
If you consistently invest Nebulous Void Cores into the same boss, you can eventually acquire all the loot from that boss's Loot Table. This makes the previously resource-intensive WoW Midnight Best in Slot acquisition process much more controllable.
Loot
WoW Midnight Season 2 adjusted raid loot, making bonus rolls more valuable. After defeating a Normal Raid Boss, bonus rolls still offer a chance to obtain Heroic Track gear, while Heroic Boss rolls offer a chance to drop Mythic Items.
For players capable of challenging Mythic bosses, raids offer gear near-max level or even higher item levels. Some boss drops, such as trinkets, necks, and daggers, provide particularly significant boosts to specific classes and specs.
WoW Midnight Mythic+ loot system has also been adjusted, giving you a chance to obtain Mythic Track items. Nebulous Void Cores can also be used in Dungeon Loot System, allowing for bonus rolls of specific Dungeon gear.
However, Dungeon Loot Table is typically larger than a single raid boss, so directly using tokens to gamble for a specific piece of gear isn't necessarily the most efficient method.
WoW Midnight Delves and Prey are currently not the most worthwhile areas to invest in with Nebulous Void Cores. While some high-difficulty content can also reward players through Great Vault and utilize rolls to obtain Heroic Track items.
However, considering gear quality, acquisition efficiency, Midnight gold investment, and actual impact on character progression, raids remain the preferred choice.

Alts
Nebulous Void Cores are equally valuable to Alts. In the early stages of WoW Midnight Season 2, most players will prioritize investing time in the main character. Alts don't necessarily need to immediately catch up to main character's progress, but it's still worthwhile to complete some low-cost content each week.
You should try to fill all three slots in Great Vault and acquire Nebulous Void Cores. These tokens can be saved up in advance and then invested in Alts once Main Character Raid progress is largely complete, or when Raid difficulty and gear requirements change.
This way, when you officially start chasing gear, you'll already have a batch of Bonus Roll Tokens, avoiding the need to accumulate from scratch. If a WoW Midnight Heroic Boss's loot table contains Best in Slot gear needed for Alts, Nebulous Void Cores can be very useful.
Official Restrictions
The power of Nebulous Void Cores quickly caught the attention of WoW Midnight. Many players had previously envisioned accumulating large amounts of bonus rolls tokens and using them repeatedly on the same boss to quickly clear that boss's loot table in a raid.
WoW Midnight Season 2 has introduced restrictions. For example, in the current Venomous Abyss Raid, once a character defeats a boss and completes a bonus roll at a certain difficulty, they can no longer use re-roll infinitely on the same boss for the rest of the week.
However, this doesn't render Nebulous Void Cores worthless. WoW Midnight's restriction simply changes how tokens are used: you can no longer concentrate all your rolls on the same boss; instead, you must distribute your tokens across different bosses based on your gear needs, or invest them in Mythic + Dungeon Loot System.
Nebulous Void Cores don't replace regular gear acquisition methods, but they do give us more control over RNG. This is especially true for players who have already identified their best-in-slot gear sources, allowing them to tailor their gear builds around specific raid bosses.
If WoW Midnight officials deem the current system too generous, they may further reduce the efficiency of acquiring Nebulous Void Cores or the value of bonus rolls. Therefore, if you haven't started using this system yet, now is the time to accumulate and utilize your tokens.
