The big news for WoW The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Phase 2 is finally here! We've just received some information about Phase 2.

From PTR testing period and raid difficulty to the loot numbers everyone's been asking for, I'm sure you'll be happy that the developers listened to our feedback and made some changes for Phase 2.WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 2: PTR Dates, Post-Nerf Raids & Massive Loot Increases Revealed

Let's take a look at these changes!

PTR Opening Time

Later this week, TBC Phase 2 PTR server will open for testing Overlords of Outland. This update will include all the content and features players have been eagerly waiting for TBC Phase 2, as well as some additional adjustments the developers are currently making.

We've also learned about Tier 5 Raid Testing Schedule. If you want to experience raids like The Eye and Serpentshrine Cavern, you need to pay attention to their testing period: May 1st to May 3rd, and participate promptly.

Difficulty Adjustment

The official WoW The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary team has decided that the upcoming tests of The Eye and Serpentshrine Cavern on PTR server will use a similar post-nerf raid difficult adjustment scheme. After all, the participation rate in post-nerf raids has not decreased at all, but has remained at its peak; players haven't stopped raiding. This PTR difficult adjustment is exactly what we need.

Post-nerf raids will be released in the next phase, which is good news for many guilds. Many people say we need a toggle to switch between pre-nerf and post-nerf versions, etc. However, the official WoW TBC Classic team has previously stated that they do not support adding toggles to anything related to Classic.

Personally, I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. However, if there were a toggle, such as pre-nerf raids dropping extra loot and WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Gold, it would become the standard mode, which wouldn't be very meaningful.

Drop Rates Increased

Phase 2 Adjustments

In 2022, when The Burning Crusade Classic Phase 3 launched, the official developers adjusted the drop rates of some 25-player bosses, increasing them. During The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary, the developers decided to implement the same adjustments with the launch of Phase 2. This means it's a phase earlier than before.

What does this mean for us players in Gruul's Lair? High King Maulgar will now drop three tokens for Tier 4 shoulder pieces. Gruul the Dragonkiller will also drop tokens for Tier 4 leg pieces. High King Maulgar and Gruul each have one more Tier 4 gear token. Therefore, Gruul's Lair will drop two more Tier 4 gear pieces in total, which is frankly fantastic.

While more players want to obtain Dragonspine Trophy from Gruul, if Dragonspine Trophy drop rate is significantly increased, the game will be greatly diminished. Whether you exchange 300 badges at the badge vendor or obtain them as drops from Gruul, this will reward you for keeping playing.

As for Magtheridon's Lair, Magtheridon will now drop three tokens from level 4 chests, an increase of one from the previous drop rate. Essentially, they've increased the drop rate of everything by one. But here's the really interesting part. The next phase of Serpentshrine Cavern will drop more than just set tokens.

The official TBC Classic team has also made the same changes to Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep. All the bosses in Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep at launch, such as Lady Vashj, Leotheras the Blind, and Fathom-Lord Karathress, will drop three tokens, which is significant.

Lady Vashj, Leotheras the Blind, and Fathom-Lord Karathress will also drop an additional set piece. However, for Hydross the Unstable, Lurker Below, and Morogrim Tidewalker, you'll receive an extra epic item. So, that's great. You'll get three pieces of gear from these bosses instead of two.

The same goes for Tempest Keep; Kael'thas Sunstrider and Void Reaver will give you extra set tokens. Al'ar and High Astromancer Solarian will give you an extra common epic item.

So, moving into the next phase and the next raid group means more than just set tokens. The next phase's 10 bosses will each drop an extra piece of gear weekly. That's 10 extra pieces of gear per week. So that's a pretty impressive amount of extra gear.

Phase 3 Adjustments

TBC Classic Anniversary stated that they plan to make other adjustments to the loot drops for heroic dungeon bosses in Phase 3. This likely means they will update the boss loot. When Phase 3 launches, Heroic dungeons may drop epic gear similar to that of Phase 1 and Phase 2 raids.

This likely means they plan to introduce some kind of currency system, allowing players to farm currency to purchase previously unobtained items like trinkets, somewhat like a catch-up mechanic.

Overall, the adjustments in TBC Phase 2 have been quite substantial. Not only has the difficulty been adjusted to a more player-favorite level, but the early implementation of drop rates has significantly increased the overall value of WoW TBC Classic Anniversary.

Furthermore, with the potential new loot mechanics for Heroic dungeons in Phase 3, our experience will be greatly improved. Let's tune in to PTR raid testing from May 1st to 3rd and look forward to the official arrival of Phase 2!
