How To Play Expedition In Path Of Exile 2?
When players come to the endgame activities, the main content for players to explore is four activities: Breach, Delirium, Expedition, and Ritual. These four activities can bring a lot of fun to players. Among them, Expedition activity is not the first time. This activity was unveiled in Path of Exile 1 in 2021. For players who have only played POE 2, this activity is still a bit unfamiliar, so the following introduces Expedition League structure and game mechanics in this activity.
How To Complete Expedition?
Expedition has an independent progress system and has instance content both inside and outside the map. The content of this activity is that players conduct archaeology and players need to find ancient artifacts for Kalguurans. The main content for players in this activity is Expedition encounters, which can be carried out in nodes with white icons and hexagrams on Atlas of Worlds. If you have an Expedition Precursor Tablet, you can use it in Lost Tower to lead to more Expedition encounters.
In this node, you will meet one of the four Expedition NPCs, who are overlooking an excavation marker and explosives. You will be given some explosives and placed around the excavation point, then the explosives will explode in the order they are placed. The explosion will reveal treasure chests and enemies, and killing these enemies will give you POE 2 Currency.
There are two features to note before you detonate the explosives: remnants and flags. Remnants make monsters stronger, and flags represent monsters. The larger the red flag, the stronger the monsters that will be drawn after the explosion, and may even spawn Runic monsters. The blue Expedition flag represents the location of Excavation Chests.
Runic monsters only appear in Expeditions, and after you kill them, you get a higher chance of dropping Artifacts and Logbooks than normal monsters. The difference between Runic monsters is that they have different modifiers under their names.
How To Get Rewards?
After you complete the expedition, you will obtain Artifacts, which can then be used to exchange Items with Kalguurans. Since you will meet 4 NPCs, different NPCs will collect different Artifacts.
Their names and Artifacts they collect are as follows:
- Tujen: Black Scythe Artifact
- Gwennen: Broken Circle Artifact
- Rog: Order Artifact
- Dannig: Sun Artifact
You can exchange the corresponding Artifacts for armor, weapons and orbs from Rog, Gwennen and Tujen. Dannig is the leader of Kalguurans, and you can exchange Sun Artifacts with him for currency like Exalted Orbs. If you want to find as many Artifacts as possible, explore more ruins with modifiers.
Expedition Logbooks can be found on high-level maps. Bringing them to Dannig will unlock new maps and new modes.
Note that the final boss of Expedition is Olroth, Origin of the Fall. You can select mods on the exploration log that increase the number of rune monsters near him. Expedition Precursor Tablet can also increase the probability of rune monsters appearing or log drops. These options are helpful for players to obtain items.
Expedition Passive Skills
After completing an Expedition Logbook encounter, the player gains a passive skill point for Atlas passive skill tree. If you complete it with a higher difficulty, you gain another skill point. You can use these to adjust the frequency of special monsters encountered in Expedition encounters or increase the amount of rewards.
Here are Expedition passive skill tree, which you have to unlock them with different points:
