Lack Of Loot Filters Is Negatively Impacting Path Of Exile 2
Last year, Diablo 4’s end-game loot problem caused the game to suffer from a massive and growing negative reputation.
Without loot filters, players have to go through a long trek to try to find that rare, elusive piece of equipment to upgrade among thousands of useless game garbage.
Lack Of Loot Filters Puts Players In A Gaming Black Hole
Obviously, this is undoubtedly an organized nightmare for players, not only wasting a lot of players’ time but also causing visual confusion in the repeated search. Worst of all, many players may miss out on loot that is truly of unique value in the time-consuming and useless work.
The situation is even worse on consoles: the lack of item sorting options means that players are helpless in the face of a large number of items piled up, and it is almost impossible to determine the order of priority in the complex items.
Although many players are paying attention to the upcoming Armory update in the game, they are also worried about not being able to effectively sort out the piles of old items in the original inventory. Game companies are well aware that players will inevitably be frustrated by this headache, but there is no obvious solution to this problem because the important resource of loot filters has not yet been added.
The Lack Of Loot Filters Is Still Spreading
Unfortunately, the lack of loot filters is like an invisible curse, and the impact of this crisis event has spread to Path of Exile 2 players. Because for some players, POE 2 is the nemesis of the classic game Diablo, grabbing some of the loyal players of Diablo.
For others, it’s a “Diablo-like”, more like a remake of the classic game. But the common point held by most players is that they all agree that POE 2 unfortunately inherited the exactly same problem as Diablo: the loot drops are very messy and difficult to collect and sort.
POE 2 Cannot Get Rid Of The Negative Problems Existing In D4
Many console players have complained that the lack of key items makes Divine Orbs and Scroll of Wisdom mixed together, making it very difficult for them to find valuable items in the game.
Currently, Reddit is full of player posts asking game companies to develop and build in loot filters as soon as possible. One post with a high exposure rate mentioned that a player almost missed a Perfect Jeweler’s Orbs because he searched for it for a long time in the vast items and mistakenly thought it was just a Regular Jeweler’s Item.
Official Solution Has Not Been Released, The Player’s Gaming Experience Is Reduced
In the process of playing the game, if there is no loot filter, a key resource, the screen will easily be overwhelmed by some drops that are not very practical. This causes players to spend a lot of time searching through a pile of junk to find truly useful Path Of Exile 2 Currency, and they are unable to fully enjoy the fun of the game.
Although Path of Exile 2 does support some third-party loot filters on PC, this is not an official solution and is not applicable to consoles.
Players Express Disappointment About Negative Issues
One player expressed disappointment in a comment: “One of the highlights of POE 2 is that the loot in the game should be more meaningful. The status of loot filters is not so necessary.”
They concluded that it is bad that the game company did not prepare a backup plan for users to deal with related problems in advance. They also believe that this will affect gamers on Xbox, PlayStation and other cloud games.
According to relevant interviews, a player mentioned that the game is still in the early access stage, and problems are inevitable, and more understanding and tolerance should be given. At the same time, he also added that he was puzzled by the delay in adding loot filters, a key resource.
Because loot filters are a resource created by the community for free, they do not consume developers and related resources. All GGG has to do is load them into the game. So in the face of overwhelming negative reviews and players’ positive suggestions, GGG’s response attitude is obviously unsatisfactory.
Positive Solutions To The Problem Are Still Worth Looking Forward To
Although the comments are full of players’ dissatisfaction, a possible explanation for this negative problem is that Grinding Gear Games pursues high quality rather than quantity in terms of loot drops. The designer’s original intention should be to hope that each piece of loot has its own unique meaning, just as players can use the reserved Path Of Exile 2 Currency to upgrade their equipment and form their own style.
Although the actual performance in POE 2 may not have been fully realized, considering that the game is still in its early stages, it is only exploratory access provided to players. So we also have sufficient reason to believe and expect that we will soon see positive improvements from GGG.
At present, both D4 and POE 2 have the common negative problem of chaotic loot drops. Considering that POE2 is still in the early access state of game development, the company still has a lot of room for improvement in upgrading the gaming experience provided to POE 2 players.
On the other hand, as Diablo 4 is about to enter the second year of its release, I believe that in subsequent updates, the game company will definitely adopt players’ feedback, seriously and actively solve the corresponding problems, and improve players’ gaming experience and trust in the overall game development.
